Braiding fiber or beading wire with the Kumihimo disk is fun and easy to learn. Kumihimo, means "gathering of threads". It is a Japanese style of braiding that has been around for thousands of years. Silk, satin, colored beading wire, and other fibers can be used to create cords for purses, clothing, bracelets, necklaces and more. Kumihimo braiding is traditionally done on a spool called a Marudi, which can easily cost a few hundred dollars.
